Thursday, July 25, is Kids Day at the fair with free activities for kids up to 8 years old scheduled all day in the pavilion area.

Jefferson County Healthy Communities program manager Minda Morton, along with members of the Early Childhood Committee and other community organizations, have again been hard at work planning activities for kids.

Crafts and many fun games and activities will be available from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., and the OSU SNAP program will be providing healthy and refreshing drinks and snacks for kids to sample.

The fun will kick off with the Second Annual Kids Day Stick Horse Rodeo for kids 3 to 6 years old. There will be a stable of well-trained stick horses available, but kids can bring their own as well.

Kids Day schedule

10—11 a.m., register for Stick Horse Rodeo.

11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Stick Horse Rodeo for kids 3 – 6 years old, with a Barrel Race, Pole Bending, Roping, Flag Race and Pig Herding (please preregister).

1-3 p.m., Face Painting.

1:30-2 p.m., La Luna Folkloric Dance Team .

2:30-3 p.m., Hula Hoop Contest .

3-3:30 p.m., Watermelon Eating Contest .

Although times may vary a little, they have been planned so families can also enjoy the Kids Pedal Tractor Pull at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., and the K-9 Dog Demonstration at 2 p.m. These events are also in the pavilion area.

“With so many activities, all young children will have a great time, so come join the fun under the pavilion,” Morton said.
