Breanne WardMadras resident Breanne Ward, a young, single mom, was in a serious accident Sept. 7, in Terrebonne, and friends are organizing fundraisers to help with medical expenses.

Friend Jessa Affolter said Ward’s injuries included three broken ribs, multiple fractures to her eye socket, three fractures in her spine, a lesion on her spleen, a punctured lung, and a deep gash on her forehead.

Ward, who works as a clerk at Busy Bee in Madras, was flown to St. Charles Bend for treatment, and was released Sept. 11, in a back brace.

“She is staying with her mom, Susan Hayes-Rufener, in Madras, who is taking care of her and her 5-year-old son Kaleb,” Affolter said, adding, “And her Mom just had a knee replacement recently."

Ward did not have insurance, but it is believed that the insurance of the driver of the car she was riding in will help with her medical costs.

Friends will hold a car wash and barbecue fundraiser from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, at Busy Bee Market.

A donation account in Breanne Ward’s name has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank, and donation jars are also at Busy Bee Market.

“Anyone who donates over $10 can get a free ice cream cone at Beetle Bailey’s in Culver, where I work,” Affolter said.
