The entire Madras High School Future Business Leaders of America team qualified for the state competition in Portland, in April.

Fourteen different schools from the Central Oregon region competed in various business events on Feb. 10, at Ridgeview High School in Redmond, despite the heavy snow the previous weekend.

Although the MHS team did not attend the competition due to the MHS school closure, they were able to compete through online testing (except for public speaking). The MHS team had three first places and qualified six others. The top 10 places qualify for the state competition.

Carly Breach and Allison Forman took first place in Desktop Publishing, with Stephanie and Melissa Olivera coming in second. In Business Math, Carly Breach was fourth, and Joseph Calica, fifth.

Jeremy Stinson took first place in Spreadsheet Applications and in Word Processing. Also qualifying in Word Processing were Allison Forman, third; Jesica Alvez seventh; and Joey Jimenez eighth.
