Molitor will become the full-time distiller and debut 'Resignation Rye' whiskey.

New Basin Distillery in Madras will be holding a grand opening from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, July 1, with food vendors, tours, tastings, games and an unveiling of its new "Resignation Rye" whiskey.

The whiskey is the company's first product produced from its own Jefferson County farm-grown rye.

The event is in recognition of the distillery now being fully established, with Rick Molitor assuming the duties of full-time distiller, as soon as his duties as 509-J superintendent are done – thus the name of the new whiskey.

New Basin's regular summer hours are 1-6 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday. It is located north of Madras, just off U.S. Highway 26, at 2063 NW Andrews Drive. For more information, visit the website at, or call 541-288-8334.
