Scouts pick up used Christmas trees
Cub Scouts in the newly-formed Pack 58, in Madras, offered a Christmas tree removal service for donations as a fundraiser. Over the course of two Saturdays, scouts picked up several trees in Madras, Metolius and Culver.
"Thank you to the community, Jefferson County Fire Department and Mark Johnson, Madras Sanitary Service, Cub Scout Pack 65 and Boy Scout Troop 65, and all who gave donations for trees to be picked up," said Nina Nelson, who does public relations for the group.
Each year, local scouts offer a Christmas tree removal service to the community. A dried out Christmas tree can be a serious threat for fire and this service is a convenient way for community members to dispose of trees. Donations are often given with the trees to help support camping opportunities for the scouts.
