April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, or Blue Ribbon Month, and the KIDS Center is hosting classes.

{filler:graphics-events-calendar-activities.jpg}April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, or Blue Ribbon Month, and the KIDS Center, a child abuse intervention center based in Bend, is hosting three separate classes in Madras.

The first class, Let's Talk About It, will be held from 5-7 p.m April 3. The class is designed for parents and caregivers, specifically, to provide information on appropriate body exploration and inappropriate and unsafe behavior for their children. The cost is $10, but scholarships are available.

The next class, called Darkness to Light, is a three-hour intensive training meant to "provide participants with five steps to better protect children from sexual abuse." The class provides information on how to look for signs of sexual abuse, how to respond, and how to minimize opportunities for abuse inside community organizations.

A Spanish version of Darkness to Light will be held from 5-8 p.m. April 15, and an English version of the class will be held from 5-8 p.m. April 18. The cost is $20, but scholarships are available.

The final class, titled SafetyNet, offers information on how to use technology safely. The class will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. April 22. The cost of the class is $10, but scholarships are available.
