The Buff Elementary Achievers Club spent time helping out at Three Rivers Humane Society on Saturday.

The club took 11 students, all from the fourth and fifth grade, accompanied by two parent volunteers, as well as Tracey Sklenar the Buff Elementary school counselor and club advisor.

"We had an incredible time at Three Rivers Humane Society," Sklenar wrote in an email.

The club meets once a week during their lunchtime and is designed "for students who get everything done and want to do more."

According to Sklenar, the students have a total of four clubs to choose from during the school year and have to bring a permission form back from their parents or guardians, allowing them to meet anywhere from six to eight weeks at a time.

At the humane society, the students made toys for the dogs, washed puppies, and played with the dogs and puppies, as well as made treats and spent time with the cats.

The club also helps out at other things throughout the school year, including the Breakfast with Santa fundraiser and writing letters to veterans before Veterans Day. Some of the Achievers have also been selected to be lunch buddies to kindergarten students one day a week.
