Whether you have diabetes yourself, have a family member with the condition, or would simply like to learn more, the public is invited to a free Diabetes Prevention Workshop at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22.
Natalie Hoyte, a physician assistant student from Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine, will share what she has learned about diabetes and simple strategies for treating and preventing the common condition.
"This presentation will include an overview of what diabetes is, risk factors for developing diabetes, the effects this condition can have on our long-term health, and a discussion of lifestyle habits that can help to prevent or delay diabetes," she said.
The event, which includes snacks, a healthy lunch and recipe ideas, will be held in the main conference room at Jefferson County Public Health, 715 SW Fourth St., Madras.
