'Trailblazers for God' vacation Bible school begins July 8, and runs throguh July 12.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is helping kids "blaze a trail" this summer with a vacation Bible school theme of "Trailblazers for God."

Less than a week away, the program runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., July 8-12, at 51 SE Buff St. The event is free for kids to attend.

The emphasis of this year's program is "standing for the right," and leading others in that pathway, according to Dianne Gibbons, the organizer.

Each day, a different Bible hero will be featured, including Moses, Elijah, Daniel, Jesus, and Paul. Students from Madras Christian School will provide a short skit each morning to introduce the Bible personality for that day.

There will be three age groups: 4-to-6 year-olds, 7-to-9 year-olds and 10-to-12 year-olds.

Each age group will follow a rotation schedule throughout the day, participating in different activities.

One rotation stop will be a "Creation Station," where presenters from Central Oregon who have special interest and knowledge in rocks, mammals, plants, ocean creatures, and birds will share special secrets of nature to inspire the children to appreciate and protect God's world.

Each day, kids will hear stories, sing songs, make crafts and have a snack.
