Culver 4-H'ers prepare for Jefferson County fair
Culver Livestock Club held two meetings, in preparation for fair, on June 23, and July 7. The fair theme this year is Stars, Stripes and Country Nights.
We talked about decorations for fair and club pictures. A lot of people had ideas about red, white and blue decorations. The club decided to take pictures at our president Nena's house in front of an old building.
Our 4-H record book check Is on July 10 and 11 at COARC building from 5-7p.m. All record books must be up to date to July 1. We talked about buyer letters and that they do not have to be checked off this year, but we need to get them to the buyers as soon as we can. The Livestock Association sent a form to be given to buyers.
Pen set-up and decorations are Sunday before fair. Our swine superintendent is getting the pig pens early so the Culver FFA can fix all the pins and gate latches. There is a mandatory 4-H meeting at the fairgrounds on July 9, at 7 p.m.; all 4-H exhibitors must be there. Angi and Scott had us sign up to volunteer at the 4-H kitchen during fair.
The Leepers will have sheep showmanship practice at their house on Wednesday, July 10, at 7 p.m. Also, I, Thayne Dickson, will be hosting a pig showmanship practice at my house on Wednesday July 10. Anyone from our club was invited. Our next meeting is at our club leader Angi and Scott Leeper's house on July 14, at 3 p.m. Fair is July 24-27.
