First students to sign up get spots in after-school enrichment program for the 2019-20 school year.

The Jefferson County Community Learning Center is now registering students to participate in the free 21st Century after-school academic enrichment program.

The program begins Sept. 16, and is open to School District 509-J students from kindergarten through eighth grade.

Following school, elementary students will be bused to Jefferson County Middle School, where the program takes place. All students receive a meal, math and literacy support, opportunities to participate in physical activity and are able to choose from a variety of electives and clubs in which to participate.

Early registration is important, as there are only 25 spots per grade available and the program is first-come, first-served. It runs Monday through Thursday each week from 3-6 p.m. and boasts new electives every 10 weeks. The program is closed on all non-school days.
