Despite some technical difficulties throughout the month of January, the Jefferson County Library Film Center is looking into February with a new list of free film showings, as well as a rescheduled January film.
Friday, Feb. 7, the center will show "Leave No Trace" (PG), which follows the story of a man and his 13-year-old daughter who are living in a Portland park when a small mistake changes their lives forever. The cast includes Thomasin McKenzie, Ben Foster and Jeffery Riffland. This film is rescheduled from the January film list as technical difficulties stopped its showing.
On Feb. 14, the center will show "The Upside" (PG-13). The film follows Philip, a disabled billionaire who feels that life is not worth living. To help him he hires Del, a parolee, and what begins as a professional relationship develops into a friendship as Del shows his grouchy charge that life is worth living. The cast includes Kevin Hart, Bryan Cranston and Nicole Kidman.
Friday, Feb. 21, will feature a showing of "Can You Ever Forgive Me?" (R). Lee Israel made her living in the 1970s and '80s' profiling the likes of Katharine Hepburn, Talllulah Bankhead, Estee Lauder and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen. When Lee is no longer able to get published because she has fallen out of step with current tastes, she turns her art form to deception abetted by her loyal friend, Jack. The cast includes Melissa McCarthy, Richard E. Grant and Dolly Wells.
All films begin at 7:30 p.m., and refreshments are available. Films are shown in the Jefferson County Library Rodriguez Annex, 134 SE E St., Madras.
