The Madras Pioneer is looking for nominees from Jefferson County.Do you know a young person in Jefferson County who goes above and beyond? A student who puts the needs of others before themselves, or someone who has overcome hardship but still perseveres to make a difference in their community? If so, nominate them for our annual Amazing Kids award!

Each year, the Pioneer selects one lucky young person from our county to be showcased in the Pamplin Media Group's Amazing Kid program. Youth from the communities of 20 Oregon newspapers in the group are featured in a special publication distributed throughout the PMG newspapers. Combined, the publication reaches 425,000 readers. The Amazing Kids are also invited to a program in Portland later in the spring, where they are celebrated.

The deadline for nominations is March 9.

While the nominee may be skilled in academic studies, sports, dance, music or other disciplines, community service will be one of the primary criteria we'll consider.

Nominees can be enrolled as a student at a private, public or charter school, or be home-schooled, but they must be 18 or younger and they must live in Jefferson County.
