With an attitude of 'let’s do it again' the Madras Swim Team looks to build on the just completed short course season as it gets ready for the long course portion of the year.

The short course season, which ran September through March, saw members of the team compete in almost 20 events with many setting personal records, team records and close races.

The team, comprised of swimmers ages 6-18, eagerly looks to increase participation on the team that swam across the Pacific Northwest.

Some highlights from the short course season included Connor Flu and Ethan Graeme, who both swam at the 10&Under State Championships in Springfield and Teague Schierling, who swam in the 11-14 State Championships in Corvallis.

Others that competed at high levels include Ian Goodwin, Bryce Williams, Brandon Hunt, Cade Boston and Josh Hocker at the Senior Championships in Gresham and Sophie Gemelas, who participated in the Senior Sectional Championships in Federal Way, Wa.

The Long Course 2014 Season begins on Monday and the team will be very active with practices and meets until season ends in August. New swimmer tryouts have been scheduled for April 9 and 10 at 6 p.m. at the Madras Aquatic Center.
