Desert Peaks Golf Course gets some upgrades
The city of Madras and Desert Peaks Golf Course in Madras have built a golf cart storage unit. The unit was installed at the beginning of March, and will officially be open for use April 1.
The unit is 206 feet long by 36 feet wide, and will hold around 80 golf carts. The cost to build the unit was $130,000.
Ken Black, Teresa Lindgren, and the city of Madras will be running the storage unit.
"This is a long time coming," said Jonathan Burchell golf course/superintendent. "It has been talked about for a while, since around 2006. This will benefit the course by making it look nicer, and more professional."
The city and Desert Peaks Golf Course are also adding a new driving range next to the course. They are hoping the driving range is finished by spring of 2019.
The Willow Creek driving range is currently available and open, located at 1120 SE McTaggart Road. Hitting golf balls costs $3 for a regular bucket, $4 for large and $5 for a jumbo.
