The Madras boys tennis team hosted an eight-team tournament. The boys placed third.

STEELE HAUGEN - Esteban Gomez hits a backhand shot.  Madras boys tennis finished third in the White Buffalo Invitational at Madras High School Saturday, April 7.

The White Buffalos hosted an eight team round robin tournament. The finishing order was: Vale (144), Henley (124), Madras (114), Cascade (108), Sisters (94), Crook County (88), Klamath Union (67), and Estacada (45).

Brandon Salgado finished third in Madras's No. 1 singles spot. Brian Baker (Henley) came in first and Marco Ramirez (Vale) placed second.

Nate Stovall also finished third for Madras in the singles No. 2 side. Nathan Holliday (Henley) and Ken Silva (Vale) placed above Stovall. Holliday finished first and Silva second.

In doubles, the No. 1 competitors Tony Giron and Esteban Gomez for Madras finished fourth. Dan Wenger and Brody Marvin earned the first-place finish for Vale. Klamath Union's Michael Ferns and Gavin Conaughty finished second.

Madras Kobey Jorgensen and Oliver Fisk finished third in the No. 2 spot. Sam McLaughlin and Dawson Sumey (Vale) took first, while Adam Marquez and Jake Farr (Cascade) placed second.

Madras beats North Marion

Madras boys tennis won 7-1 against North Marion in Madras, Wednesday, April 4.

Not a single game Wednesday went to the third set, as all games were finished in two. The No. 1 singles match was won by White Buffalo Brandon Salgado. Salgado won both sets 6-1 ,6-1.

Nate Stovall won 6-1, 6-0 in impressive fashion in the No. 2 spot, beating North Marion's Freddy Rios. The No. 4 match was won by Ivan Escalante, 6-2, 6-4 to give the Buffs three wins out of the four single matches.

The Buffalos won all four of the doubles matches against the Huskies.

Tony Giron and Esteban Gomez won two hard-fought sets 7-6, 6-4 in the No. 1 doubles match.

The No. 2 doubles match was won by the duo of Oliver Fisk and Kobey Jorgensen. They cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Tony Sanchez and Enrique Ramirez won the No. 3 match 6-3, 6-2.

The No. 4 match win was by disqualification.

Madras tennis will return Tuesday, April 17, at 4 p.m. against Estacada in Madras and Saturday, April 21, against Mountain View in Madras, time to be determined.
