Devore wins amateur fight at 125 pounds
Three Madras fighters took part in a mixed martial arts tournament in Bend, at Budo Fights, on Saturday, May 19.
Tim Devore finished his opponent in the second round via a technical knockout. Clint Haugen won submission of the night in his MMA debut and Nicole Martinez lost.
Devore dominated his fight for an amateur belt. Devore, fighting a much shorter competitor, used his range on the feet and stuffed all of his opponents' takedowns.
In the second round, the ref took away a point from Devore for an illegal knee (knee to a grounded opponent). Minutes later, Devore landed a legal knee that shook his opponent, forcing the ref to stop the fight.
Haugen had some back and forth exchanges on his feet. He dropped his opponent with a body kick. Haugen subdued his opponent, who was attempting a takedown via guillotine. The fight lasted a little more than one minute.
Martinez ran into a tough opponent and was knocked out in the first round. She came out aggressive and ready, but was caught by a right hand.
