Tim Devore finds success using his range and takedown defense, winning in the second round.

Three Madras fighters took part in a mixed martial arts tournament in Bend, at Budo Fights, on Saturday, May 19.

Tim Devore finished his opponent in the second round via a technical knockout. Clint Haugen won submission of the night in his MMA debut and Nicole Martinez lost.

STEELE HAUGEN - Tim Devore (right) won his first amateur belt at 125 pounds May 19.Devore dominated his fight for an amateur belt. Devore, fighting a much shorter competitor, used his range on the feet and stuffed all of his opponents' takedowns.

In the second round, the ref took away a point from Devore for an illegal knee (knee to a grounded opponent). Minutes later, Devore landed a legal knee that shook his opponent, forcing the ref to stop the fight.

Haugen had some back and forth exchanges on his feet. He dropped his opponent with a body kick. Haugen subdued his opponent, who was attempting a takedown via guillotine. The fight lasted a little more than one minute.

Martinez ran into a tough opponent and was knocked out in the first round. She came out aggressive and ready, but was caught by a right hand.
