Buchanan, Luttrell, Aldrich, and Scott, all Jefferson County competitors, will be on live TV.

SUBMITTED PHOTO - Joe Scott is one of the four Jefferson County competitiors in the National rodeo competition.From July 15-21, four Jefferson County athletes will compete on live television in the National Finals Rodeo, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, while the Silver State International Rodeo will be held June 30 through July 7, in Winnemucca, Nevada.

Chase Buchanan, who lives in Powell Butte, but attends Culver High School, won the saddle bronc riding championship in the Oregon High School Rodeo State Finals. Hope Luttrell who lives in Prineville, but also attended Culver High School, Coy Aldrich, also of Culver, and Joe Scott, of Warm Springs, all will be participating in the national finals.

Scott punched his ticket to nationals in saddle bronc riding and Aldrich and Caleb Carpenter, of Ridgeview, will go for team roping. Luttrell will be participating in both barrel racing and team roping.

Featuring more than 1,650 contestants from 43 states, five Canadian Provinces, Australia and Mexico, the National High School Finals Rodeo is the world's largest rodeo.

In addition to competing for more than $200,000 in prizes, NHSFR contestants will also be competing for more than $350,000 in college scholarships and the chance to be named an NHSFR World Champion. To earn that title, contestants must finish in the evening's final round. World champions will then be determined based on their three-round combined time/scores.

The Saturday championship performance will be televised nationally as a part of the Cinch High School Rodeo Tour telecast series on RFD-TV. Live broadcasts of each NHSFR performance will air online at Performance times are 7 p.m. on July 15, and 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day thereafter.

Along with great rodeo competition and the chance to meet new friends from around the world, NHSFR contestants have the opportunity to enjoy shooting sports, volleyball, contestant dances, family-oriented activities, and church services, sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys.
