Acuna earns first-team all state for MHS
Madras White Buffalo soccer athlete Andres Acuna has earned first-team all state. Acuna ended the season with 21 goals and three assists for the Buffs. He also earned Tri-Valley first-team honors, as well as several other White Buffalo athletes.
Melchor Olivera defended the midfield for the Buffs and recorded three goals and eight assists, earning TVC first-team honors.
White Buffalo goalie Byron Patt was the first goalkeeper from Madras to earn TVC first-team honors, making some incredible saves during the season.
Esteban Gomez, Tyriek Rodriguez, Tony Giron and Alex Diaz all earned second-team TVC honors on the year. Gomez, who played defense for the Buffs, scored two goals in the season. Giron, who also played defense, assisted on two goals.
Rodriguez, a midfielder for Madras, scored three goals and assisted on two. Diaz was able to score four goals this year, but also led the team in assists with 10.
Alex Sanchez, Chapin Grote, and Leo Gutierrez earned TVC honorable mention honors. Sanchez assisted on two goals this year and Grote, a defender for the Buffs had one assist. Speedster Gutierrez had 10 goals on the season and assisted on three.
Madras head coach Clark Jones earned TVC Co-Coach of the year with Molalla head coach Ryan Gates.
The White Buffalos finished the year with a 12-4-1 overall record, 7-2-1 in league play, losing in the state playoff semifinals match.
