Madras White Buffalos wrestling team travels to Bend High for big school tourney, place ninth.

Mountain View (202.5), Pendleton (199), Canby (177), Bend (135), La Pine (135), Ridgeview (102), Elmira (65), Siuslaw (63), Madras (38), Willamette (27) Sisters (23) and Redmond (17) all participated in the tournament.

At 152 pounds, Conner Comingore won his quarterfinals match by fall in 2:47, but would lose his third-and-fourth place match to Justin Reed, of Bend, in a 12-5 decision, placing fourth.

Kody Zemke (220) pinned his first opponent in 1:25, but lost his quarterfinals match. He went on to win all of his consolation matches by fall, all under two minutes, to place fifth for the White Buffalos.

Colin Switzler (138) went 2-2 in the tournament, losing to Grey Canada, of Elmira, in the consolation semifinals match.

Elijah McCourtney (145) won his first match by fall in 5:38, but lost his next two matches.

With 13 schools competing, most of them bigger schools, the Madras White Buffalo wrestling team was able to place ninth.

The Madras White Buffalos wrestle at the Oregon Classic at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds, in Redmond Jan. 18-19.
