Culver track wins meet at La Pine
The Culver boys track and field team won a meet in La Pine April 17.
Culver finished the meet with 101 team points, beating out La Pine (88), North Lake (71), Paisley (61) and Cascade Academy of Central Oregon (1).
The girls finished the meet with 37 team points, with North Lake (85), La Pine (75) and Paisley (70) ahead of them.
On the boys side, freshman Zennon Rybel placed first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.91 seconds and first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.66.
He was part of the 4x100 relay team (45.90) of Cesar Orozco, Jordan Vanalystne, and Kash Michael that claimed gold. The 4x400 relay team (3:47.02) of VanAlstyne, Clayton Mathews, and Braedan Chapman, which placed first as well.
In the 400-meter run, Chapman placed first with a time of 58.62 and teammate Matthews (59.37) finished in second.
Orozco was also able to claim gold in the javelin (132.07), second in the long jump (19-02) and second in the 100-meter dash (11.97).
The 300-meter hurdles saw Johan Jaimes finish in second with a time of 47 seconds. Jaimes also took third in the high jump (5-06).
Luke Spinelli and VanAlstyne tied for second in the pole vault (11-06).
For the girls, junior Bridget Lopez placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (18.14) and fourth in the javelin (89-08).
In the 1,500-meter run, Mikayla Haessler (6:12.90) claimed silver. She also placed third in the javelin (96-09)
Talyn Barry was able to place third in the shot put with a throw of 29-09. Trystin Smith placed third in the 400-meter run (1:17.08) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (32.37).
The Culver track and field team traveled to Bend to participate in the 10th Annual Summit Invitational April 20.
The meet was a huge one with around 30 teams participating. Neither the boys or girls team were able to score any points, but the athletes were able to receive great competition from big schools.
Jordan VanAlstyne was able to crack the top 10 in the pole vault, placing 10th with a leap of 11-06.
The Bulldogs will travel to Madras Wednesday, April 24, for a meet against the Buffalos, Corbett and Condon.
