The Madras White Buffalo girls tennis played Friday, April 19, at home against Stayton and lost to the Eagles 5-3.
In doubles play, Erika and Jessica Olivera were able to seal a win for the Buffs over Kalista Szymd and Piper Freres in two sets. The girls won a hard first set 7-6 (7-4) and cruised to a 6-2 set two victory in the No. 1 doubles match.
The No. 2 doubles match was won by Madras' Kelsey Olivera and Elaina Nambo. They beat Jolene Kuenzi and Elaina Kuenzi 6-0, 6-4.
Izzy Nieto and Rachel Ptacek, of Stayton, were able to beat Lorena Macias and Natalie Ramos 6-3, 6-2, and Megan Sebeus and Bethany Kuenzi gave the Eagles another win by beating Natalia and Lilliana Oliveres 6-2, 6-0.
In the singles matches, Kylie Borchert earned a victory in the No. 3 singles match. She beat Megan Campell 7-6 (7-2), 6-2.
The No. 1 singles match was won by Lisel Rutherford, beating Madras' Katherinne Parodi, 6-2, 6-2.
Destinee Reynoso Carrales played three sets against Stayton's Hannah Mitzel. She lost the first set 6-0, but came back strong winning the second set 6-4. Mitzel was barely able to edge out Reynoso Carrales in the third set 7-6 (7-4).
The No. 4 match was won by Rylee Dryden, giving the Eagles a win over Esme Garcia 6-1, 6-3.
The White Buffalo girls tennis program were a little short-handed against Molalla April 18, and the Buffs fell to the Indians 7-1.
Madras hosted Molalla, but had players in new spots, from playing tougher competition, being bumped up a few spots, to playing with a new partner.
Erika Olivera was the only Madras tennis athlete to earn a victory on Thursday and she did it playing in the No. 2 singles match.
Olivera, who usually plays in the No. 1 doubles matches, faced Allison Burre and defeated her in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.
In the No. 1 singles match, Parodi lost to Gillian Mead, of Molalla, 6-4, 6-2, while Azucena Ruiz fell to Molalla athlete Rubic Burge 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 3 match.
Fatima Garcia gave the Indians another victory, beating Esme Garcia 6-3, 6-2.
Nambo and Kelsey Olivera moved to the No. 1 doubles match and did very well, but fell short to Jaden Beyer and Cassidy Burke. Nambo and Olivera barely lost the first set 5-7, but won the second set 6-4.The match came down to the third set and Beyer and Burke were able to defeat Nambo and Olivera 6-4.
The No. 2 doubles match was won by Cayla Peeples and Isabelle Burgi over Madras' Borchert and Reynoso 6-2, 6-1.
Ramos and Macias were beaten by Maddy Brinkman and Jaden Donaldson 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 3 match, while Allysa Beatty and Hannah Nelzen won the No. 4 match over Natalia and Lilliana Oliveres 6-0, 6-0, giving Molalla two more wins.

The Madras girls tennis team hosted the Cascade Cougars April 17, losing 5-3.
The Lady Buffs went 0-4 during singles competition, while the Madras doubles teams were 3-4 against the Cougars.
Erika and Jessica Olivera gave the Lady Buffs a victory, beating Brenna More and Kandee Xiong, 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) in the No. 1 doubles match.
The No. 3 Madras doubles team of Reynoso Corrales and Nambo only needed two sets to beat Bailey Pedersou and Natalee Federico, 6-4, 6-4.
Lorena Macias and Natalie Ramos were able to get a victory for Madras with a win over Kali Sana and Kenna Coleman 6-1, 7-5.
The Buffalo team of Kelsey Olivera and Borchert lost the No. 2 match to Jenna Scnepp and Faith Drill, 6-3, 7-5.
Parodi lost to Jenica Weiberige, of Cascade, 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1 match, while Cascade's Gio Hernandez beat Erica Desjardins 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 2 match.
Ruiz and Garcia both lost their singles matches 6-0, 6-0, against their Cascade opponents.
The Lady Buffs host Philomath at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 25. They travel to Sisters to face the Outlaws at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 30.
Districts is coming up for the Lady Buffs and the first day will be at 12 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Estacada High School. The second and third days of districts will be held at Black Butte Ranch Monday, May 6 and Thursday, May 9.
