Two local youth soccer teams represented Madras in the Harmony 3v3 Challenge 2019 in Vancouver, Washington, July 27
A 14-and-under team called Bayern Madras won their bracket, going 5-0 in the tournament. The team consisted of Jacob Turo, Steve Gonzalez, Cruz Bocanegra, Osvaldo Casteneda, and Eben Tapia and was coached by Ramon Casteneda.
Bayern Madras played Thelo Predators Too in their first game and came away with a 10-4 victory. Their next game, against WATFC 06B Whites3 was a little closer, but the local Madras team won 7-2.
They played WATFC 06B Whites2 and WATFC 06B Whites1 in their next two games, winning 7-1 in both games. Bayern Madras scored 31 goals and only gave up 8, earning a spot in the championship game for a rematch against WATFC 06B Whites3.
Madras showed their dominance once again, defeating WATFC 06B Whites3 9-3 and bringing a trophy back home.
The younger group, a 7- and 8-year-old team consisting of Adrian Felix, Blake Rex, Josue Castaneda, Noe Castaneda, Javi Gonzalez and Uziel De Anda, went by the team name MPC Jr.
They started the tournament off ready and focused, beating Washington Timbers/Lions 13-1. MPC Jr. defeated IFC 12B Huracan 9-4 in their next game. The next game, against 12B West, was a tough one, but MPC Jr. came away with a 7-5 victory.
The Madras locals won their last bracket game 10-6 and went 4-0, scoring 39 goals, while giving up 16. MPC Jr. made it to the championship game, but lost 6-2, placing second at the tournament.
