MAC Dash set for Saturday, September 14
The 12th Annual MAC Dash Sprint Triathlon is back and ready for another year. The popular race moved back a month this year after having the race on Aug. 11 last year. This year the race will be Saturday, Sept. 14.
Registration for the event closes Sunday, Sept. 8. Money raised from the Madras Aquatic Center race helps fund in-water programs like the Madras Swim Team and the water polo program.
The MAC Dash consists of a 500-yard swim, 12-mile bike ride, and a 3-mile run. Participants can register as a team or an individual competitor. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. for MAC Dash participants.
Kids ages 14 and under can register for free, participating in the Middle Dash or Mini Dash. The Middle and Mini Dash races were made to encourage kids to get excited about the MAC Dash and other triathlon events.
The Middle Dash is for kids ages 14-11 and is very similar to the MAC Dash, but with shorter distances. Participants in the Middle Dash will compete in a 100-yard swim, 2-mile bike ride and a 1-mile run. The Middle Dash will start after the MAC Dash at 10 a.m.
The Mini Dash will begin after the Middle Dash and is for ages 10 and under. The Mini Dash will also have a choice of two different courses — a longer course and a short course for all ages. The Mini Dash is planned to start at 11 a.m.
The MAC Dash Sprint Triathlon attracts people from all over and give racers time to enjoy the views of Madras, while enjoying the town. Volunteers are encouraged for the MAC Dash, as it has taken 80 to 100 volunteers to help with the Triathlon in the past.
