Madras holds strong, beats Corbett
The Madras White Buffalos took care of business Oct. 25, defeating the Corbett Cardinals 22-0.
Corbett and Madras were both fighting for a postseason spot. After Madras' victory both teams moved to 5-3 on the year.
The first score of the game came from a punt block by Tony Salazar into the back of the endzone for the Buffs. Madras took a 2-0 lead and held onto it all the way to the second quarter.
A fumble on a punt by the Cardinals put the Buffalo in great scoring position and Madras power back runner Treyvon Easterling punched the ball in for a score on an 8 yard sweep.
The point after touchdown was missed and Madras took an 8-0 lead with 10:33 left in the half.
Madras' defense wouldn't budge and their offense took the field with 1:08 left in the first half. A series of quarterback runs up the middle by Ethan Graeme put the Buffs in scoring position. Graeme scored on another run up the middle and Madras took a 15-0 lead heading into the third quarter.
Neither team was finding success on offense in the second half, but power back Easterling decided to seal the game himself for Madras.
Easterling ran five dive runs up the middle in a row and on the six power run, Easterling broke free for a 36 yard score.
The White Buffalos defense was not giving any room for Corbett and Madras came away with a 22-0 victory on senior night.
