Culver baseball gets its first win of the season after starting the year 0-2. The Bulldogs beat Grant Union 7-6. Adam Knepp started on the hill for Culver and recorded seven strikeouts in three innings. Catcher Mack Little went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and drove in two runs.

Lady Dawgs softball wins season opener 5-3 against La Pine. Josi Harrison pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts and zero walks. She also went 3-for-3 at the plate.

The Madras baseball

team started the 2010 season with a 3-2, as the split with Henleyb eat Hood River, Sisters, and lost to Sandy.

In the White Buffalos 11-1 victory over Hood River, Turner Gill hit a 3-run home run for Madras, while also

pitching five innings. Austin Say hit a solo home run as well as an RBI single and RBI double.

During the Buffalos 19-11 victory of the Outlaws, Spencer Ellsbury hit a two-run double and Say hit a two-run single during a seven-run inning. Madras took a 12-2 lead after the first two innings. Kyle Palmer hit an RBI single in the first inning and Gill finished the game 3-for-3 with a triple, while Theron Spino went 2-for-2 with an RBI.

The Lady Buffalo softball started the 2010 season with a 2-2 record. Macy Abendchein recorded 16 strikeouts during a 10-inning 4-1 victory over Henley. Caitlin Hulsey hit an RBI double for the Buffalos.

Madras also beat Hood River 8-5. Jamie Moe was on the hill for the Lady Buffs and recorded five strikeouts before Abendchein closed out the game. Abendchein also went 2-for-4 batting with a double and a home run. Joella Smith went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Madras boys basketball picked up its second state basketball trophy as they won three of four games to place third at the 3A state basketball tournament.

The White Buffalos finished the regular season with a 18-9 overall record, finishing second in the Tri-Valley Conference and were overlooked by all teams at the tournament.

Madras started the tournament by beating the No. 2-seeded Astoria Fisherman 46-37. They moved to the quarterfinals, where they beat Junction City, a team they lost to earlier in the season, 50-46.

The boys could not get past Woodburn in the semi finals as they lost 59-49 to the Bulldogs. They bounced back in the third place game, beating Henley 63-48, taking home the third place trophy for the Buffalos.

Jeremy Jack earned first team all-tournament team scoring 54 points in four state tournament games. Teammate Jake Suppah earned second team all-tournament, scoring 43 points in the four games played.
