Madras hosts track meet for first time in eight years
The Madras track and field program hosted its first track meet for the first time in eight years. In 2007, the Madras track was deemed unusable and dangerous. After a new track and field, that included the football field, bleachers, locker rooms and the Performing Arts Center were built, Madras was able to host a track meet.
For the girls, Mariah Stacona won both the high and long jump, while Kalan Wolfe won the 400-meter dash. On the boys' side, Brent Sullivan won the high jump, while Zephaniah Phillips won the discus. As a team, the girls placed fourth and the boys fifth.

Madras golf sets team and individual records
Brian Miller shot one under par 70 for a medalist honor, and the Madras golf team finished fourth during the 11-team meet at The Dalles Country Club. The White Buffalos set team and individual records for their play, which made longtime coach Robin Gerke a very happy man.
The Madras team had a combination of experienced and young players, as 16 Buffalos were on the team. The White Buffalos led all 3A schools with a score of 327, beating teams like The Dalles (329), Seaside (352) and Pendleton (364).
Brian Miller, who played in his first varsity match as a freshman, shocked everyone by shooting a 33-37-70 to win medalist honors. It was the best score ever for Madras at The Dalles.
