Madras boys soccer squad pounds Sisters
The Madras White Buffalo boys soccer team continued rolling on Thursday as they knocked off the Sisters Outlaws 5-0 in a match played in Sisters.
"Overall, we played better than we did last week," said Madras head coach Clark Jones. "We are starting to find a rhythm and some good chemistry and we hope it will continue as we close out this short fall season."
Javier Sedano scored three goals for the White Buffalos, while Manny Flores and Leo Gutierrez each added a goal.
Juan Mata had a pair of assists while Sedano, Flores and Gutierrez each added one.
Jones also noted that he was pleased with the performance from his defense.
"I was impressed by the play of goalkeeper Ethan Nava and the back line of Ethan Tapia, David Diaz, Jeremy Sanchez, and Derrek Main," Jones said.
OSAA season 1 will end this week for the White Buffalos as they play one final road match this Thursday in Redmond where they face Ridgeview at 6 p.m.
The Madras White Buffalo girls soccer team struggled offensively on Thursday as they were blanked 6-0 by the Sisters Outlaws.
"We were missing a bunch of girls and only had 12, but I felt we played pretty tough," said Madras head coach Shawn Darrow.
"We were definitely outmatched. They are a really tough team, but I thought we battled and kept things close. I thought that we competed hard even if the score didn't show that."
The White Buffalos have finished their schedule but are still hoping to find someone to play later this week.
If that does not happen, the team will not play again until the official OSAA fall season, which this year does not begin practice until Feb. 22.
