Bonecrusher mountain bike race in Madras Saturday
Madras Trails will host the Bonecrusher XCO Saturday, which will feature an expected 160 mountain bike riders.
The event — the first major racing event at the trail site — is expected to draw racers from Central Oregon, other areas of the state, and even from out of state.
The Bonecrusher will feature various skill level and age division races. It will have Elite and Cat 1, 2 and 3 divisions.
The Bonecrusher is the only XCO race — Cross Country Olympic-style — in Oregon scheduled this year, said race organizer Brennan Morrow.
The race is also the first in Oregon to have an E-Bike category, said Morrow. An E-bike is one that includes assisted power from a battery-powered motor.
Racers are coming from Central Oregon and also the Portland area, Idaho and Washington.
The event includes rigid COVID protocols, details of which are included on the event information at Madrastrails.com.
Racing starts at 9:30 with the youngest competitors and the Elites begin at 1 p.m.
