Bulldogs drop La Pine JV to finish at 6-3
The Culver Bulldog softball team was in the thick of the Special District 2 playoff race when the high school was shut down for two weeks due to COVID.
Five consecutive league games were canceled, dropping the Bulldogs out of contention. When school finally reopened, the Bulldogs got one day of practice before closing out their year with a pair of games against the La Pine JV squad.
Culver looked rusty early, but still hammered out a 15-9 win in game one, then won the second game of the doubleheader 12-2 to close out the season in style.
Culver's power at the plate was on full display in the two games with Hensley Wachter blasting a pair of home runs and Arianna Reyes hitting a third for the Bulldogs.
With the wins, Culver finishes the year with a 6-3 overall record and a 2-3 league mark and are left wondering what might have been had they been able to play a full season. Still, with just two seniors on the roster, and most of the team's power and pitching returning, this year sets the Bulldogs up to be one of the top teams in the league next season, giving Culver softball fans plenty to look forward to in the years ahead.
