Madras third baseman Ethan Graeme capped his senior season by being named to the OSAA 4A All-State third team infield.

PMG FILE PHOTO - Ethan Graeme capped off his senior season at Madras High School by being named to the OSAA 4A All-State third team infield. Graeme had the only home run of the season for the White Buffalos, while also finishing second on the team in RBIs with 23.

In the final sports season of his Madras High School career, Ethan Graeme left it all out on the field.

As a result, Graeme was named to the OSAA 4A All-State third team as an infielder earlier this month. The lists were voted on by the coaches in each classification.

During his senior season, Graeme played mostly at third base, manning the hot corner when he wasn't pitching. He showed off some slick plays with the glove on defense, but Graeme's biggest contributions arguably came from the batter's box.

Of the team's "everyday" players — those who logged more than 50 at-bats on the year — Graeme had the second-most RBIs (23), the third-most extra-base hits (8), and the fourth-highest batting average (.342). He also tied for fourth on the team in stolen bases (6), while hitting safely in 20 of 26 games. Graeme provided the team's only home run of the season, a three-run shot to left field during a 27-1 romp over Corbett on May 4.

Graeme made eight total appearances on the mound this past season, starting three games for the Buffs. He finished with a 6.72 ERA, striking out 18 batters in just 16 and 2/3 innings of work on the year.

Though he was the only White Buffalo to make the all-state list, a handful of other Tri-Valley competitors were also honored. North Marion had five players named all-state, including first-teamers Evan Holman and Rex DeAngelis, while Gladstone's four honorees were led by second-team infielder Hayden Smith. Estacada also had an honorable mention in junior outfielder Riley Hovda. Molalla and Corbett, meanwhile, did not place any players on the all-state list.

Following the season, Graeme was also named to the All-Tri Valley Conference first team infield as one of Madras' six entries on the all-league list. Graeme was joined on the All-TVC team by fellow first-teamers Conner Flu, Ayden Holcomb and Noah Vibbert, while Dru Boyle made the second team and TJ Stout was an honorable mention.

Of those six, only Graeme and Stout graduated — meaning there very well could be more all-state selections in Madras' future next season.
