Firefighters respond to the fire Thursday morning to find the RV engulfed in flames

A one-alarm fire broke out in a recreation vehicle Thursday morning in west Newberg, but the occupants emerged unscathed and the blaze was quickly doused, officials said.

Newberg public safety dispatchers received a call of the fire at about 10:23 a.m. Thursday, said Alex Haven, division chief of the Newberg Fire Department. One engine responded to the Chehalem Trailer Park at 217 Old Highway 99W, where it found the motor home engulfed in flames. It took about 10 minutes to douse the flames, he said.

Haven said the occupants of the motor home, which had just pulled into the park at the time of the fire, emerged unscathed, but the motor home was a total loss and the owners were displaced. The American Red Cross responded to the site and provided lodging, food, clothing and comfort kits, according to a press release.

Haven said it appeared the fire started in the engine bay of the motor home, which was rendered a total loss. No buildings were damaged as a result of the fire, he said.
