All ballots sent to residence addresses, although many people only receive their mail at post office boxes

Yamhill County Clerk Brian Van Bergen announced Monday that his office would be re-mailing 2,065 ballots for the upcoming Nov. 7 election.PMG FILE PHOTO - The Yamhill County Clerk's Office has re-mailed more than 2,000 ballots after it was discovered that some ballots sent to residences won't reach people who use post office boxes only.

According to a press release, the clerk's office mailed all local ballots to voters' "residence" address, but because many don't receive their mail at those addresses, but rather a post office box, the decision was made to re-mail ballots to potentially affected voters. Ballots were sent out Monday.

Van Bergen noted that some voters will receive two ballots, but should complete only one, although the content is the same. In the release, he directs voters to destroy the first ballot received and only vote the last ballot. If a voter places more than one ballot inside a single return envelope, all ballots within will be rejected and not counted.
