Slots open for mayor and council in Dundee
The citizens of Dundee will cast ballots in November for three positions on the City Council, as well as mayor.
Candidacy election packets are available at Dundee City Hall, 620 S.W. Fifth St., during normal business hours.
The city charter requires that a person seeking elected office in Dundee must be a registered voter and a resident of the town for a minimum of one year immediately preceding the election. Candidates have a choice of how to go about seeking election: they may either pay a filing fee of $35 or obtain approval from the city recorder to circulate a nominating petition to collect and witness a minimum of 13 signatures (a percentage of the votes the electorate cast in the last presidential election) from registered voters within the city.
The mayor serves a two-year term, which begins in January and will expire in December 2020 Councilors are elected to four-year terms that begin in January and will expire in December 2022. The positions are elected on an at-large basis and those receiving the majority of votes will be elected.
