The foot, found at Rogers Landing, is believed to be a match to one found this summer near Champoeg Park

A severed human foot was found in a Dumpster at the boat ramp at Rogers Landing last week. Police are still working to identify whose foot it is.

According to the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, the foot was found around 10 a.m. Friday by a person searching the Dumpster for returnable bottles. Investigators believe this severed foot to be a match of a foot found on the shore of the Willamette River near Champoeg Park in July.

The foot was in a gray Nike running shoe and according to a news release from the sheriff's office, based on the other types of trash items found with the foot, investigators believe it may have been collected by a person or group cleaning the beach or nearby area.

"All items were found in a large, clear plastic trash bag," the release said. "It is feasible that the shoe may have been picked up without anyone knowing a foot was inside," the release said.

Investigators are asking for help from the public in the search. They're asking that anyone who picked up trash near Rogers Landing or on a nearby beach on the Willamette River within the past two weeks, or know anyone who has, to contact Detective Todd Steele at HYPERLINK "mailto:This email address is being protected from spambots.
