The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office is reporting no new information on the severed foot found in a Dumpster in early November in Newberg

The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office is reporting no new information on the severed foot found in a Dumpster in early November in Newberg.

The foot, believed to be a match for another found earlier this summer on the shore of the Willamette River near Champoeg State Heritage Area, was found Nov. 16 by a person searching the Dumpster for returnable bottles.

That person, according to police reports, found a foot "in a gray Nike running shoe," in a trash bag. Based on the other types of trash items found with the foot, investigators believe it may have been collected by a person or a group that was cleaning the beach or nearby area. "Nothing further at this time," YCSO Capt. Chris Ray said Nov. 28.

Newberg police were not involved in the investigation.

"All items were found in a large, clear plastic trash bag," a news release said. "It is feasible that the shoe may have been picked up without anyone knowing a foot was inside."

Investigators are asking for help from the public in the search, particularly those who may have gathered trash near Rogers Landing or a nearby beach on the river two weeks prior to the discovery.
