Thieves smash the door of the Newberg Liquor Store during a night of several attempted robberies

Thieves attempted to rob the Newberg Liquor Store on Portland Road in the early morning hours last week, according to the Newberg-Dundee Police Department.

Public Information Officer Brian Hagen said the suspects smashed the glass door of the liquor store and went inside. He said it doesn't appear the suspects took anything from the store.

He said the Aug. 11 attempt is related to an earlier burglary at the Chalice Farms store in Dundee. Hagen said the suspects didn't take anything from that store either.

Hagen said it is likely the suspects also attempted to rob a store in McMinnville, but he didn't know which store, as well as similar crimes in Portland.

"(The) NDPD will coordinate with the other jurisdictions to attempt to identify the suspects," he said, adding that the NDPD won't have any other details about the suspects' methods or descriptions until detectives can investigate further.
