No suspects have been arrested in attempted thefts at several area stores in August

The Newberg-Dundee Police Department continues to search for the suspects involved in several attempted robberies throughout the area earlier this month, although no new developments have been reported.

Public Information Officer Brian Hagen said there was no new information on the nearby burglary cases, which involved the Newberg Liquor Store and the Chalice Farms store in Dundee. Both attempted robberies occurred in the early morning hours of Aug. 11. The suspects, who have not yet been identified, were unsuccessful in taking anything from either store.

"I know they are tied to other burglaries in (McMinnville) and Portland, but the details of which haven't been released," Hagen said. "No arrests have been made."

In Newberg, the would-be thieves smashed the glass door of the liquor store on Portland Road. They did not appear to steal any cash or bottles of liquor from the store, which for a time had a plywood board over the broken door.

"(The) NDPD will coordinate with the other jurisdictions to attempt to identify the suspects," Hagen had previously said.

He added that he couldn't reveal any details about the suspects' methods or descriptions until detectives can investigate further.

A public information officer for the Portland Police Bureau did not have any information to add.
