How's your health? PNMC wants to help
Providence will hold a pair of community events in November in Newberg concentrating on participants' health.
The first, headlined "Know Your Lungs: A Lung Health and Lung Cancer Awareness Event," is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 15 in the first-floor conference rooms at Providence Newberg Medical Center, 1001 Providence Drive.
The event is a community expo of sorts, organizers said, where folks can learn about lung health and lung cancer. Participants can meet with a lung expert from the Providence Cancer Institute, who will listen to people's lungs, discuss individual's health and their cancer risk.
Other partners in the event are the American Lung Association, Lung Cancer Alliance, American Cancer Society, Free to Breathe and Providence Cancer Institute.

Next up Providence will host "Good Food, Great Medicine," a forum featuring author and physician Miles Hassell, who will focus his talk on the science behind using food to prevent heart disease and strokes, as well as toward losing weight.
The forum is set for 2 to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in the auditorium at Friendsview Retirement Community, 1301 Fulton St.
Hassell, an internal medicine physician, will speak on achieving optimal long-term health by selecting healthy food options and incorporating a healthy lifestyle. His talk is based on evidence-based research and a Mediterranean-style diet.
Hassell is the author of "Good Food, Great Medicine" and will also be signing copies of the book at the event.
