Soroptimists will host discussion on school bond
The Soroptimist Club of Newberg will host a discussion on the Newberg School District's upcoming bond election at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Family Life Church, 502 S. St. Paul Highway.
Speaking will be School Superintendent Joe Morelock and school board chairwoman Brandy Penner. The pair will present information on the bond and answer attendees' questions. The event will follow social distancing protocols on masks and seating.
Physician will facilitate Depression Recovery Program
A physician from Providence Medical Group is leading a Depression Recovery Program at the beginning of October.
The program is a series of eight classes that cover a variety of depression-related topics, including information on how to identify depression and improve mental health.
The eight sessions include: identifying depression and its causes, lifestyle treatment for depression, nutrition and the brain, how thinking can defeat depression, positive lifestyle choices, stress without distress, living above loss and how to improve brain function.
Classes will be facilitated by Dr. Tami Rodgers. Social distancing and prudent medical precautions will be in place.
The program is free but there is a $40 cost for a workbook. Classes begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Newberg.
