Free COVID-19 testing has begun at county fairgrounds; NDPD wraps up enhanced traffic patrols

Free COVID testing on tap at county fairgrounds

Those interested in getting a COVID-19 test can do so for free at upcoming events hosted by Yamhill County. The Yamhill County Health Department is offering free COVID-19 testing in a drive-thru setting at the Yamhill County Fairgrounds from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Jan. 29.

People who register need not have symptoms to test, insurance is not required, and all information provided during registration is confidential. Registration is encouraged for those who wish to sign up for the testing, with county officials pointing to as the place to register for the events.

Results are in for enhanced traffic patrols

A string of enhanced traffic patrols by the Newberg-Dundee Police Department occurred during the holidays, the results of which were announced Jan. 7 in a press release by NDPD. These patrols happened through the end of December and was "focused to address distracted driving (cell phone use), speeding, and driving under the influence of intoxicants," according to NDPD.

The results? 13 citations were issued for distracted driving, 24 for speeding, four arrests for DUII (drugs), and two arrests for DUII (alcohol). Funding for the patrols came from grants and a partnership with the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), the release said.
