Join the pickleball advisory committee
The Chehalem Park and Recreation District is seeking all those interested in the sport of pickleball to join its Pickleball Advisory Committee. The sport is growing in popularity, officials say, and the purpose of the committee is to make pickleball-related recommendations to the CPRD board of directors.
The application for the committee can be downloaded from www.CPRDNewberg.org, with additional information on the organization's Facebook page. The deadline for applying is Sept. 17.
Legacy League luncheons on tap
George Fox University will host Legacy League luncheons once again this year, both in-person and virtually over the video conferencing app Zoom.
The first luncheon is set for noon Sept. 24 in Canyon Commons. GFU president Robin Baker will speak and provide an update on the current state of affairs at the university.

Newberger named to dean's list
MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Newberg native Rebecca Palmer was named recently to the dean's list at Florida Institute of Technology. To earn the honor, students must complete 12 or more graded credits with a minimum grade-point average of 3.4.
