George Fox University students recognized by M.J. Murdoch Charitable Trust for their research

A pair of George Fox University students were lauded last week by the M.J. Murdoch Charitable Trust with awards for their scientific research.

Abby Sims, mentored by professor John Schmitt, and Avery Owen, mentored by professor Anthony Barnes, were recognized by the trust after presenting the research through lectures and poster displays during a conference held recently by the organization.

Sims was recognized for a presentation headlined "Protocadherin-y Modulates CaM Kinase Activity and Breast Cancer Cell Growth," while Barnes was lauded for "Characterization of a Novel GPR39 Signal Transduction Pathway."
