Racism appears to be alive and well in Newberg after incident at Chehalem Golf Course

To the editor:

Today in our little community of Newberg, racism at its best came to play at Chehalem Glenn Golf Course.

My husband and I had a 1:50 p.m. tee time. After the first hole of golf we were asked to leave the course due to the fact we took nearly 15 to 20 minutes to play the hole and they said it should have taken only 10 minutes. We (were) never at any time told that each hole was to be played in 10 minutes. This may have been a legit reason if the fact that my husband is a Black man had not been the case.

With all the racism and bad behavior from so many people in the world, I was very discouraged to say the least that here in our little community, racism has found a way.

All the white golfers were able to stay and play on.
