In his memory, the family of Aaron Bowlby has created a family tradition to collect toys for families in need.
The Newberg youth died 12 years ago and at first the family donated toys to the Newberg Fire Department's Toy and Joy program, now run by Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.
"After a few years, we decided to go public to help give back to the community and started our own toy drive," said Janis Bowlby, the boy's mother. "So far, we have collected over 350 toys to donate. I am at awe at how much the people are giving."
As a part of the tradition, the family delivered the toys to the downtown station on Friday, Aaron Bowlby's birthday.
