First Federal seeking books and blankets in partnership with YCAP; state representative will hold safety town hall Dec. 4 in St. Paul

First Federal partners with YCAP to gather blankets and books

First Federal has partnered with YCAP to make winter a little warmer for people in the communities they serve by accepting donations or new or slightly-used blankets and children's books from Dec. 3 through the 14th. Donations will be distributed by YCAP to families in need. Last year, First Federal collected 580 blankets and 1,072 books.

Post will hold traffic safety town hall Dec. 4

House District 25 state Rep. Bill Post will hold a town hall meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4 in the community hall in St. Paul, 20239 Main St. N.E.

The state representative, recently re-elected, will speak on traffic safety in northern Marion County and give attendees time to air their concerns and ideas on the issue. On hand will also be officials from the Oregon Department of Transportation, Marion County and the city of St. Paul.

Historical society will hold holiday bazaar Dec. 1-2

McMINNVILLE -- The Yamhill County Historical Society will hold the ninth annual Handmade Holiday Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 1 and from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Yamhill Valley Heritage Center, 11275 S.W. Durham Lane. Proceeds from the event will benefit the historical society and in excess of 50 vendors are expected to ply wares ranging from handmade pottery to soaps and textiles, from jewelry to wood carvings and other creations from local artisans.

Yamhill Soil and Water Conservation District awarded grant

McMINNVILLE -- The Yamhill Soil and Water Conservation District received a $3,100 grant from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund to fund work at Miller Woods, a 130-acre forest property that offers public hikes and activities for all ages. Submitted by Miller Woods volunteer Rick Thomas, the grant will allow for several professional signs to be completed for the property.

'Forest Herbicides' presentation on tap

McMINNVILLE – The Yamhill County Small Woodlands Association and OSU Extension Service will host herbicide specialist Bruce Kelpsas in a talk headlined "Forest Herbicides" at 7 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 28) at the OSU Yamhill County Extension Auditorium, 2050 N.E. Lafayette Ave.
