SUBMITTED PHOTO - Andreas Salzman's 'Telegraph' is among the many pieces that will be on display in the Minthorne Gallery at George Fox University through Feb. 22.

The George Fox University Department of Art and Design will present an exhibition by one of its faculty members, titled "The Journey," from Jan. 7 to Feb. 22.

The exhibit by Jennifer Salzman and husband Andreas will be hosted in the university's Minthorne Gallery, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or by appointment.

An artist talk will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Chehalem Cultural Center., followed immediately by a reception in the Minthorne Gallery.

Jennifer Salzman is the director of exhibitions and collections at George Fox; Andreas Salzman is a professor at Lane Community College in Eugene. According to a joint artist statement, the two have been married for 28 years and have both been practicing artists for the same amount of time. Although they create in different mediums, they say their work often addresses similar themes.

"Both bodies of work discuss matters of relationships and the way those relationships define their lives," the statement says. "All relationships are approached visually with similar connections. Andreas and Jennifer both find themselves working with dialogue about their children as well as those of their aging parents and loss of loved ones. This exhibition explores these narratives through mixed media sculpture and both traditional and nontraditional photography."
