The school has two concerts remaining out of a slate of three at Bauman Auditorium

GARY ALLEN - George Fox University began its fourth annual spring concert series on March 7 with its jazz ensemble performing an interdisciplinary presentation with the school's Department of Art and Design, including professors Tim Timmerman and Brandon Waybright. The university's symphony orchestra will perform on Friday and the school will host an honors recital on March 21.

George Fox University will host a handful of concerts throughout March, with the next two set for Friday and March 21.

The first of the performances was March 7 and was a Jazz Dialogues Concert and lecture. It was the fourth annual presentation of the event, with the school's jazz ensemble working with the Department of Art and Design to create the "one-of-a-kind interdisciplinary presentation and multi-media experience" that included "live collage creation, drawing, animation and painting.

Art and design students (participated), along with professors Tim Timmerman and Brandon Waybright," according to a GFU press release.

The next concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Bauman Auditorium. The GFU symphony orchestra will perform composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Romeo and Juliet Overture – Fantasy" in its premiere concert with conductor Dwayne Corbin.

The performance will also feature students who won a concert competition, including Alex Hastings, playing Felix Mendelssohn's "Violin" concerto, and an aria sung by Bethany Fromdahl.

The final concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. March 21, also in the Bauman Auditorium, where the school will host an honors recital featuring students who applied and were chosen through a competition examined by a panel of guest judges made up of professional musicians.
