GFU to end season with its spring concert
George Fox University will host two more musical performances in April, including the annual spring concert at the end of the month.
The university has already hosted two concerts, a chamber concert on April 11 and a jazz concert on April 12. The remaining two performances include a concert by the Orphic Percussion Ensemble on Thursday and the annual spring concert wraps up the series on April 26.
All shows are at 7:30 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium.
The chamber concert featured a wide range of genres and periods of music, ranging from baroque to contemporary. The event featured the university's chamber singers, women's chorale, chamber orchestra, keyboard ensembles, flute choir and saxophone 1uartet.
The April 12 concert saw the jazz ensemble performing big band works by jazz composer and trumpeter Thad Jones.
On April 18, the Orphic Percussion Ensemble from Fresno, Calif., will perform, using marimbas and other percussion instruments.
On a tour of the Pacific Northwest, the group is made up of members who have performed internationally.
Finally, the annual spring concert closes out the university's concert season. It features performances by the concert choir, master chorus, symphonic band and symphony orchestra. It will feature the first-place winners of the school's concert/aria competition, including pianist Kyler Schubkegel and vocalist Cezanne Brunner.
All seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call the GFU music department at 503-554-2620.
