Red Cross blood drive set in St. Paul, city looking for city workers, Public Works Day slated for late June at library

Red Cross needs your blood, especially Type O

The St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department will hold an American Red Cross blood drive from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (June 5) at the fire hall. Appointments may be scheduled by visiting, although drop-ins are welcome. For more information, call Mary Ellen at 503-633-8341 or Carol at 503-633-4141.

Seeking summer workers

The city of Newberg is looking for part-time seasonal laborers to work for the public works department. Employees would assist on installing water lines, sewer lines and storm sewer lines, as well as installing road signs, patching potholes, painting traffic markings and doing landscaping.

The roughly four-month job would pay $15 an hour and those interested should visit for more information.

Public Works day set for late June at library

The city of Newberg's public works department will hold a Public Works Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 27 at the public library on First Street. The event will allow the public to get an up-close look at the department and will feature activities and service equipment to explore. A free hot dog lunch will be provided to the first 500 people in attendance.

Habitat to host barbecue for store

The Newberg Area Habitat for Humanity will host a barbecue to benefit its ReStore from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 15. This third annual event will be hosted at the ReStore on 801 N. Meridian St.

Rodeo looking for student artists

The St. Paul Rodeo Association is looking for student artists for its Wild West Art Show. The show is held July 2-6, in conjunction with the rodeo held over the July 4 week. Students from age 8 through college may apply by June 10. Dundee has spot open on planning commission

The city of Dundee is seeking applicants for an open spot on its planning commission. The appointment is to complete a term expiring in December 2021.

To qualify, applicants must have a minimum one year of residence in Dundee prior to the appointment (one member of the commission may be a non-resident land owner in the town).

Newberg High School alumni Golden Gathering

Newberg High School alumni that graduated 50 or more years ago are invited to a gathering from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 11 at the A-dec Inc. company cafeteria in Newberg.

The event marks the 19th annual "Golden Gathering" celebration and is hosted by reunion chairman Ken Carsley, class of 1961.

Last year graduates from the classes of 1942 to 1968 were in attendance. This year, the class of 1969 or earlier is invited to attend. Memorabilia to share will be displayed on tables at the event as well.
